This is for Fungoneviral.

If you are reading this, I really hope you like it! And I really hope I did it right.

I apologize in advanced if It sucks.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

You were Blind.
You knew that.
When it first happened, you cried.

You were scared because this had never happened before, you were scared because you didn't know what was going to happen, you were scared because you felt helpless, useless, weak…

You never were a strong country to begin with. Your nation was peaceful, calm and laid-back, but even so, when you became blind you felt so…Powerless…But you weren't a country anymore…You felt alone…But you weren't…

You had friends…!

You had so many people around you, that cared for you.

When it first happened you cried. But then they all came to visit.

They made you smile when you felt like crying. They made you laugh when you felt like screaming, they made you sing when you wanted to huddle in a corner and hide from the rest of the world.

They didn't give up on you…Even when you did.

They loved you, and you loved them back…

There was one of them who you loved the most though…

You loved him before any of this happened.

He helped you grow as a nation, he helped you grow as a person.

He was so strong, he was so kind, even though sometimes he had weird ways of showing it.

You loved him.

You loved him a lot.

England…

After you lost your sight, he came running to your side. You were a mess back then, you cried, you hid, you were frustrated. Trying to figure out what to do.

Then, Poof! He was there by your side, comforting you, caring for you and…Apologizing.

It was like your injury hurt him, more than it hurt you.

He Apologized…

Over and over again, saying that he 'Should've taken better care of you' or he 'shouldn't have been such an idiot'.

That was the moment you declared him to be 100% nuts.

It wasn't his fault. It was his fault you lost that war. It wasn't his fault you weren't a country anymore…

You didn't really understand.

He took it upon himself to take care of you, even though he didn't have too…

But if helping you was helping him recover, then you would let him…

:::::

Most people would think being blind was frightening.

Especially if you weren't blind at first…

You had thought that as well, when you first went blind.

Most people would have thought that it was dark, and lonely being alone…

…Now that you had gotten used to it, it really, really wasn't

You smiled as you listened to the birds chirping, the cars passing, the people laughing, enjoying the end of a lovely Saturday.
A warm evening breeze shuffle past leaves, carrying the soft but sweet scent of flowers.

It was summer. To be exact, it was a warm, drowsy summers evening.

You were enjoying the last of light before the day turned to night.

You yawned, stretching out, feeling the blades of grass tickle you.

"__________!" called England

"Yeah!" you replied

"__________!" he called again

"Yeah!?" you replied louder

"__________!?" he sounded more desperate.

"He's deaf, I'm blind, we're a perfect match" you grumbled to yourself

"Im Outside!" you called, as loud as you could.

A moment passed before you heard his footsteps shuffle against the grass.

"_________!" he said, relieved

"Finally" you sighed inaudibly

"__________, please don't wander off again, I was looking everywhere for you"

A smile tugged at your lips as you heard his accent.

"It's not wandering off if I'm still on the same property"

You felt him sit beside you.

Your eyes were open, but it was just a reflex. You saw nothing but black.

"It's getting late, we should go back inside" he murmured

"No" you whined "I wanna stay out here, just a little longer"

You didn't want to go inside. It was boring and quiet in there, you wanted to stay out here, and listen to everything that was happening.

"It's going to get cold" he insisted

"I'll go inside in a minute. I just want to stay out here until I can hear the crickets"

He paused

"Crickets? I didn't know there were crickets around here"

"Really?" you asked "Can't you hear them at night?"

He hesitated. "N-no"

You laughed at him. "This is your house England, have you never noticed them?"

He paused.

You used this as an excuse to stay out longer.

"You should stay outside too then" you smiled. Not at anything in particular "Listen to the crickets for once"

He went quiet "V-Very well then, but on one condition"

"Mm-Hm?"

"Let's move up closer to the house, wouldn't that be more comfortable?"

You thought about it for a moment.

"Sure, why not?" you asked, and you stood directly up.

"Whoa!" he said suddenly "Careful!"

"Of what?"

You felt him gently take your wrist and lead you up  the stairs. He guided you gently.

"I'm not-" you caught yourself. You were about to say 'I'm not blind you know' but then you remembered you were.

But you had memorized the area around this house a while ago, you knew every turn, every corner. You could walk freely, just like you did before you were blind, but you held your tongue and let him guide you.

He sat you on the stairs and walked of towards the house somewhere.

"Just a moment" he said before walking off.

You wondered curiously what he was doing before you felt a soft material be laid over you.

"England…" you murmured as he place the blanket over you.

You let him care for you, if it would help him believe that it wasn't his fault…But sometimes, even though he was trying to make you feel better, it just made you feel worse…
You didn't want to be useless…

"Thank you" you finished

…And then you two talked.

You talked and laughed about nothing at all.

You loved his company.

You felt the air get colder and colder, and night slowly settled in.

You leaned back on your arms and waited for the crickets to come out.

Then, you jumped slightly as you felt his hand brush over yours.

"I am honestly, truly sorry" he murmured

You frowned "England-"

"I should have aided you in that war, I should have been there for you…"

"Shut Up" you laughed "Stop apologizing all the time, it's not your fault"

Emphasis on the 'Not'

"But I-"

"Nah!" you said cutting him of "Shut up"

"_____-"

He sighed in defeat

You felt a pang of pity.

Comfort Mode: Activate

"It's ok" you sighed "How many times to I have to say it's not your fault? If anyone's apologizing it should be me. I'm sorry I'm so useless"

He told you to shut up this time.

"You just lost your vision after hundreds of years"

"-I'm not that old"

"-And look at you! You're smiling, you're laughing…You're a strong girl ________"

You felt sad after he said that. You knew those were compliments but it made you want to cry.

"Thank You" you mumbled

"It's nothing but the truth"

You shifted your hand from under his and brushed it against his arm. Figuring out where he was.

Then you sat up and leant forward, placing a little kiss against his cheek.

"No" you said "I mean Thanks for Everything else"

You sat back down.

Queue the awkward silence.

"___________" he whispered, you felt him shift.

You weren't sure if he was angry or offended.

'Please don't hit me' you chanted in your head.

Your eyes instinctively widened as you felt his lips against yours.

Your breath caught in your chest.

You felt him move closer to you and the kiss continued.

Your face was warm, and you felt dizzy, you also felt yourself automatically kissing back.

He pulled away and you felt his hand on your face.

"Don't cry again…Alright" he said "I don't know what to do when you cry…So keep smiling alright?"

You nodded "Sure, why not?"

So there you sat, under a blanket with England.

You enjoyed the cool night air, the chirping crickets and his warm company.

You smiled as you sat with him.

You smiled because you knew…

You knew those three words were true.

Those three words that he didn't even have to say.

"I Love You"

I don't even know why, but when I read, "he was so strong, he was so kind," I thought of that scene from the blind side.

How ironic. -deserves to die in a hole-
